If only you can hear me. If only you listen to me.
I speak to you but you don't listen. You don't care about me and you neglected me. I asked you to trust me but instead, you trust the voice from outside.
Look at us now, distracted by social media, spent most of our days living someone else's dreams. Suppressing our pain by indulging more on food and getting addicted to technology, alcohol, and the ping sound from this gadget that we call smart phone.
When I said, "Don't trust the man you just met in the club, you didn't listen and instead, you gave this beautiful womanly body to him, and now, you carry this guilt. When I told you to sit still and listen attentively to that woman who looks after you all these years as all she needed was your attention, you chose to ignore me. When I asked you to trust me because you said that I am your 'instinct', you decided to trust the voice from outside.
If only you can hear me. If only you listen to me.
All of us, when we are in our solitude and reflection moment, we hear these voices. Many therapists would refer to this voice "The inner child". When we listen to this child who lives inside us, we feel happy and joyful, but when we ignore the child within us, we feel frustrated and depressed.
Think of the moments when you are at your happiest, can you see that child jumping up and down? Think of the moment when you say 'no' to someone and become assertive. Can you see that child standing firm in his or her power?
If only we can stop and listen to this child? If only we can give the care and attention that she needed. If only we can trust her voice more than the noise from outside.
My friend, find a quiet and peaceful space to connect with the inner child within you. She wants to communicate with you. Listen to her. You will feel happier and more alive when you listen to her and trust her. Caring for your inner child is the key to your lasting success and true happiness in life.
